The statue of Saints Cyril and Methodius is a bronze sculptural group approximately 3.9 metres high. The work was created in 1999 by academic sculptor Ladislav Berák.

Originally, the sculpture was installed on the building of the House of Matica slovenská in Komárno. It was later relocated to its current site and ceremonially unveiled on 4 July 2010 in the presence of then Prime Minister Robert Fico and representatives of Matica slovenská. Its placement on a roundabout was presented as a symbol of unity and an open Europe, although it also provoked controversy among politicians and the public.

The statue represents the Thessalonian missionaries Cyril and Methodius, who are regarded as the apostles of the Slavs and the creators of the script that preceded the Cyrillic alphabet. The monument has long been owned by Matica slovenská and has become a prominent feature of Komárno’s public space.
