On 6 November 2005, the Dunaszerdahely Roma Musicians’ Civic Association erected a statue in Kukučín Street in honor of the renowned composer and Romani prímás (lead violinist) János Bihari (1764–1827), who was born in Nagyabony and had family ties to Dunaszerdahely. The sculpture was created by György Lipcsei based on a famous portrait by János Donát. Since then, the city has commemorated Bihari each year with a wreath-laying ceremony and a gala performance.
