In 2000, the “Immortal” civil association erected a life-sized statue of King Stephen I on the square in front of the Municipal Cultural Center. The city council approved a proposal to name the area in front of the cultural house “Saint Stephen Square.” Every year, on the feast of Saint Stephen, a memorial ceremony and wreath-laying event are held here.
