The first Jókai memorial in Komárom was erected in 1913 at the corner of the former Beöthy Villa on Erzsébet Island. This gazebo served as a meeting place for Jókai Mór’s circle of friends. Many renowned writers and public figures visited it, including Géza Gárdonyi, Kálmán Mikszáth, and Ferenc Molnár. Originally, the memorial included a plaster bust, which was later damaged.

In November 2020, the renovated gazebo was unveiled, now featuring a bronze statue, a replica of a work by Gyula Berecz. During the ceremony, participants scattered rose petals around the statue, echoing the 1913 inauguration, when flowers from Jókai Mór’s garden in Balatonfüred were used for the occasion.
