The statue adorned the square in front of the town hall until the end of the Second World War. In October 1945, soldiers of the Czechoslovak Army removed it from the main square, after which it lay in the Komárno Fortress for twenty years. Finally, in 1965, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of Komárno being granted town status, it was restored; however, it was not reinstalled at its original location in front of the town hall, but in the English Park. It returned to its original place on the town’s main square in 1991, after the change of regime.
