Gabčíkovo is the youngest town in southern Slovakia, located in the Dunajská Streda District on the bank of the Csiliz stream. Its southwestern border, which is also the border between Hungary and Slovakia, is formed by the Danube River.

A walk along the Danube offers an excellent opportunity for relaxation and is a great tourist route where visitors can discover local flora and fauna. The beauty of the floodplain forests attracts the attention of tourists.
The waterworks were built between 1977 and 1992, primarily to protect the area from floods, improve conditions for navigation, ensure drinking water quality, and generate electrical energy. The information center presents the waterworks and environmental topics in an entertaining way and offers a wide range of visitors the opportunity to learn about water and nature from this unique location, as well as about electricity generation from renewable sources. The information center also expands the current functions of the waterworks to make them accessible to the general public.
The most important monument in Gabčíkovo is the Roman Catholic Church of St. Margaret of Antioch, whose predecessor already stood here in the 14th century.
A significant landmark of the town is the Amade Manor (today a retirement home), built in the 17th century on the site of a former water castle. The Renaissance castle was rebuilt in the 18th century by Count Tadeáš Amade in the Baroque style.
The rural house welcomes visitors with a rich ethnographic collection. The furnishings of the large house with two kitchens recall the early decades of the 20th century.
