The church in Báč was built in 1660-1674 in the early Baroque style and restored in 1712. The Franciscan monastery is a national monument.

Most of the church’s decoration dates from the period of its construction (1660-1674), but there are also Art Nouveau murals from the early 20th century. On the main altar there is a painting of St. Anthony of Padua (1861) – the patron saint of the church. The painting of the Virgin Mary dates from the last quarter of the 18th century and is placed above the classical tabernacle of the main altar from 1772. In 1715 the image miraculously shed tears of blood several times. The building of the Franciscan monastery in Báč is also sadly known in Slovak history as the place where several priests and prominent representatives of the Catholic Church were imprisoned by the communist regime.

The main altar was built by Count György Lippay in 1782. The Apponyi family was buried in one of the crypts in the basement of the church.

In 1786 the Franciscan order was dissolved by decree of Joseph II. After the monks left, the monastery served as a granary and the church as a coal storehouse. It was not until 1811 that the Bratislava authorities allowed the Franciscans to return and the church and monastery resumed their original function.
Next to the church is a calvary.
