The memorial pillar was erected by Ladislav Vörös, a resident of Ižop, on the occasion of the somber 100th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Trianon in 2020. The Hungarian Holy Crown at the top of the memorial pillar radiates authority and strength, symbolizing the millennial statehood of Hungary, while the turul bird with outstretched wings—the legendary bird of Hungarian lore—represents protection, and its facial expression suggests rebirth. The sculptor Júlia Szunyog, a Hungarian (Őrös) sculptor, created the Holy Crown and the turul bird. The pillar was erected from donations, in cooperation with the local community.
