The floor of the 19th century Neo-Gothic building served as apartments for officers and their families of the Imperial and Royal Army who served in the Komárno Fortress. On the ground floor there was an officers’ casino. On the front side of the building you can see the inscription VIRIBUS UNITIS (in unity there is strength), which was the motto of Emperor Franz Joseph I.
Nowadays the premises are used by János Selye University, Komárno Municipal Office, there is also one pharmacy, a restaurant and other services. An amphitheatre was built in the courtyard of the Pavilion. During the summer months it is often used for concerts, events and family gatherings. In the courtyard there is a statue of Jan Selye, an expert in stress theory, as well as a bridge symbolising the connection between Komárno and Komárom.
