The park was established in the second half of the 18th century next to the Amade family’s manor house. While it once provided a home to old native and exotic tree species across 40 hectares, today its area covers 27 hectares.
Walking among the enormous oaks, poplars, plane trees, and 40 other species of trees, visitors may indulge in the thought that Maria Theresa herself once strolled along these paths, as she enjoyed spending time at the manor. The old trees provide stable living conditions for numerous animal species.
The manor and the park have been protected since 1963 due to their historical, cultural, and natural significance.
The Čiliz Stream flows through the park, once an important tributary of the Danube. It is one of the last watercourses on Žitný ostrov to have preserved its natural flow, along which valuable wetland habitats have been restored.
