On the 76th anniversary of the issuance of the Beneš decrees, which stripped individuals of Hungarian and German ethnicity of their Czechoslovak citizenship, a memorial dedicated to the deported Hungarian families was unveiled in Šamorín. The monument, located at the intersection of Gazdovský rad and Hlavná ulica, was inaugurated on August 2, 2021. More than eight hundred people were deported from the city to Bohemia, and more than three hundred were resettled to Hungary as part of the population exchange. The sculpture was created by sculptor György Lipcsey.
