The company ARW s.r.o. is the bearer of the brand “WAGNER since 1947,” which represents the tradition of a confectionery family. In 1946, Ján Wagner, a native of Topoľčany and an apprentice at the time, obtained his master confectioner’s certificate. A year later, in what was then Čalov (today’s Veľký Meder), he opened a confectionery workshop with a shop.
Together with his wife, Priska, Ján Wagner built a confectionery business whose reputation extended beyond the borders of former Czechoslovakia. Their ice cream, nougat and caramel Christmas candies, wafers, and pastries became highly sought after for their quality, attracting customers from Budapest to Prague. Frequent visitors included Poles, Germans, and Russians, as well as Japanese, Australians, and even tourists from America.
In May 2009, Wagner passed down his craft to his sons, Rudolf and László. Since then, the family’s main goal has been to maintain the quality of their products and provide excellent customer care. The confectioneries in Dunajská Streda and Veľký Meder have become popular destinations not only for the general public and sweet lovers but also for confectionery experts and prominent figures from cultural and social life.
With a pleasant atmosphere, elegantly presented products, an attractive interior, soothing music, and a friendly staff, every customer can feel like they are visiting old and dear friends.
