If you are looking for a more serious challenge and are a fan of active relaxation, this tour is tailor-made for you. Spend 3 days cycling, during which you will explore almost the entire Szigetköz and Žitný ostrov area. The route is diverse, taking you through cities, villages, and the true nature of the Danube region. This cycling tour is rich in attractions and cultural and natural values, making it particularly recommended for experienced cyclists. The wealth of Szigetköz and Žitný ostrov awaits you to discover it.
From Mosonmagyaróvár to Komárom, we can travel in Hungary via the northern route of EuroVelo 6 through towns and villages such as Győr, Gönyű, Nagyszentjános, and Ács, which offer opportunities for rest and resupply. In the city of Komárom, there are many accommodation options available on both banks of the Danube.
On the second day, we travel along the Váh, the longest river in Slovakia, reaching the town of Kolárovo (rightfully known for its water mill). Then, following the bends of the Little Danube River embraced by the nature of the Žitný Island, we arrive in Topoľníky. Here, after a short rest, we join the cycling route connecting the surrounding villages and make our way to Dunajská Streda, passing charming villages such as Trhová Hradská, Ohrady, and Veľké and Malé Dvorníky. As a spa town, Dunajská Streda offers a great opportunity to relax after an exhausting tour and provides visitors with a variety of accommodations and restaurants.
The third and final day of the tour begins in Dunajská Streda. Some sections can be completed on the cycling path, but certain parts run along low-traffic roads, which requires caution and appropriate “equipment.” The second stage of the tour leads the cyclist through many villages, but we will add a bit more on the third day. Leaving Veľké Dvorníky, we head towards Blažov, followed by Povoda, Vrakúň, Kostolné Kračany, Kynceľove Kračany, Jurová, and Trstená na Ostrove (where we reconnect with the EuroVelo 6 cycling route) and Kyselica, where we cross the Danube by ferry to reach the village of Vojka nad Dunajom. From Vojka, we cycle along the Danube through Dobrohošť towards Čunovo, then at Rajka, we cross the Hungary-Slovakia border, and via Bezenye, we arrive in Mosonmagyaróvár, thus concluding our cycling tour.
