The cross is a symbol of salvation, resurrection, faith, hope, love, and gratitude. It also serves as a reminder of the coronavirus, the feared disease of our time, and its victims. The structure was funded by public donations and built in cooperation with the community in 2021. The stone cross was constructed by Ladislav Vörös, a resident of Ižop.
