On 1 December 2016, a commemorative plaque dedicated to Benedek Csaplár was unveiled in the municipal cultural centre named after him. Benedek Csaplár, a native of Dunaszerdahely, was an ethnographer and collector, a Piarist teacher, and a literary historian, who passed away 110 years earlier. In his memory, the year 2016 was declared the Benedek Csaplár Memorial Year.
